Positioned at the gateway to Christchurch International Airport are three stunning architecturally designed buildings housing over 6,500 sqm of ‘A’ grade lettable office space and a centralised pocket park forming the airport’s AgriExport Precinct. The Sheppard and Rout designed ANZCO and FMG buildings include 4,050m² floor area. The 2.5-hectare development involved the re-purposing of an underutilised brownfields site into a centrepiece of the Christchurch International Airport Limited (CIAL) Master Plan whilst creating a statement entrance to the airport campus. The largescale project centred around three distinct office building developments under separate Development Agreements with premier tenants being delivering consecutively and in parallel with the overall roading and infrastructure upgrades in and around the site to create a defined ‘AgriExport Precinct’ with a consistent overarching Precinct design theme. The result is three bespoke buildings tailored to the specific requirements of each anchor tenant, with a centralised amenity area available to all tenants consisting of covered bike parking facilities, a covered BBQ area, grass and planting areas, seating, table tennis table, and a half basketball court
The FMG office building completes the development of the Agri-Export commercial precinct at Christchurch International Airport. The building creates a strong relationship to the adjacent motorway overbridge, as a gateway to the airport entry. The undulating façade & building form, reference movement & transition from the motorway into the Airport commercial precinct.
Both buildings were designed and built to achieve a Nabers 4.5-star rating and thermal modelling was prepared for the FMG building in accordance with green star modelling method, this modelling achieves three points under the green star office v3 1eq-6 thermal comfort, which provides the maximum available points.
