A high-end modernist housing development comprising eight townhouses and two standalone residences on a large river-side site in Fendalton, Christchurch. While the site could have been developed as 8 standalone houses on separate land parcels reached by a vehicle lane, the developers considered there was sufficient interest to justify building an alternative scheme for buyers expressing interest in living on a smaller parcel of land within an integrated landscaped site.
The townhouses vary in size from 235m² to 363m². Each has a generous double garage, some capable of being fitted with vehicle hoists to allow a further 2 cars and 4 cars in total. Most of the units have 3 bedrooms and a minimum of 2½ bathrooms. Living areas are generally open plan with terrace areas at both the east and west ends of the homes. The terraces are generally walled for privacy and security but allow views of the communal gardens beyond.
Construction of the townhouses comprise of reinforced concrete raft foundations, steel portals and timber framing. The cladding consists of a combination of plastered lightweight AAC panels and cedar weatherboards.
