Our Clients grew up in this region of Queenstown and after some time away, decided it was time to return, tasking Sheppard & Rout to design their “forever home”. They wanted a home that made the most of the expansive mountain views in all directions, that could accommodate their family and friends staying or just visiting them in this special region of New Zealand.

Sheppard & Rout responded to the brief with a house constructed from low maintenance schist stone and Colorsteel tray cladding, minimizing flat roofs, orientated to the main mountains in the basin, with a guest wing to one end that could be closed off from the main home.

One of only 2 houses perched on a small rocky hill, this home is perfectly positioned to capture expansive sightlines to both The Remarkable’s and Coronet Peak, as well as the ever-changing landscape of the surrounding basin.
